John G. Marriott

Williamson/Hilton Head Island, SC:  John Gordon Marriott died of complications from heart disease at his childhood home in Williamson, NY on Thursday July 14th.

He is preceded in death by his mother Barbara Marriott and his father Gordon Marriott.

He is survived by his four siblings Roy Marriott, Holley (Rick) Bond, Wayne Marriott, and Ken (Penny) Marriott, as well as his nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his three children Matthew with his wife Alison Marriott, Stephanie with her husband Alex Filhol, and Allie with her fiance Ryan Prell, as well as his step-children Ian and Kiersten Bell.

Above all else John was a man who loved and cared for his family and friends. His three children were what he was most proud of in his life. He was a wonderfully talented craftsman and woodworker, and an avid golfer. He grew up in Williamson, NY where he developed lifelong friendships including his childhood friend Todd Morrison. He moved to Easton, MD in his twenties where he met the mother of his children. As a family they moved to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1989 where John remained until returning to Williamson in 2012.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Ken and Penny Marriott's home at 4133 Pearsall Road Williamson, NY on Wednesday July 20th from 6:00pm -8:00pm. There will also be a gathering at Tower Beach on Hilton Head Island, SC from 5:00pm -7:00pm on Saturday July 23rd.

Because of his love of golf and his children, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his honor to:  The First Tee Lowcountry, Hilton Head Island, SC.  He was happiest when making others happy, and will be missed by many.
