Sodus/Williamson: Entered into rest on November 12, 2015 at the age of 82 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ken served our country as a member of the US Navy from 1952 through 1960. He was active as a Palmyra Police Officer and from there was made Chief of Police in Sodus Point until 1966. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company after 23 years of service.
He was a lifelong member of the NRA, Masonic Lodge of North Rose-Wolcott, Sodus & Williamson Republican Committee, American Legion and Palmyra VFW.
Ken was predeceased by his parents; Arthur & Marie (Duerbaum) Van Lare, stepmother Ann Van Lare; sister Janet (Milton) Clark, brother Larry Van Lare.
Survived by his loving wife, Norine (Beckwith) Van Lare, his children; Dawn (Randy) O’Connor, Kenneth C. Van Lare, Aileen (Mike) Hurlimann, step-children; Jean Dana (Ron Stonewell), Jacquelyn Van Marter, Lyle Wayne (Lois) Van Marter, Jeff Van Marter (Karen Stendardi), Keith (Lynn) Van Marter, Debbie (Todd) Furber, Angus Hopkins IV, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Judy (Barry) Frazer; sister-in-law Beverly Van Lare and many extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Young Funeral Home, Williamson, NY on Wednesday, November 18th at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Roseridge Cemetery, Naples, immediately following the service with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palmyra VFW, Honor Flight Rochester, or Lollypop Farm.
