Richard Lewis
Williamson - Richard Lewis, 91, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Richard was born the son of the late Halstead and Rita (Elliott) Lewis on Saturday, April 21, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He spent his early years in a suburb of Chicago before his family moved to Douglas, Arizona, when Richard was fifteen. He graduated from Douglas High School and went on to attend Yale University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Richard continued his education at Princeton University, earning his Ph.D. Richard spent his career at Xerox as a research physicist, retiring after thirty-eight years of service. He enjoyed spending time at home on his property and could often be found tinkering in his shop.
Richard will be remembered by his wife of sixty-three years, Catherine Lewis; his sons, Halstead (Kriszta) Lewis and Stephen Lewis; his grandchildren, Vivien, Richard, Silas and Augustus.
Richard was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Welsh; and a daughter-in-law, Jessica Lewis.
A celebration of his life will be held in the summer at a date and time to be announced.
