Joann M. Peets

Joann M. Peets, 84, of Ontario and Williamson, NY, passed away on August 17, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

Joann was born on November 13, 1937, to Elton and Edna Mosher in Rochester, NY.

After graduating from Wayne Central school, she married Richard, her husband of 48 years. Joann and Richard went on to have two children, Rick, and Sandee.

In 2012, Joann retired and spent her time reading, gardening, shopping, and at her cottage and camp with her favorite people. She was known for her sweet smile and generous heart and her love of all animals. Holidays were always a special time for her and her family.

Joann was predeceased by her parents, Elton and Edna Mosher, husband Richard Peets, brother Robert Johnson, sisters Beverly Doell and Dorothy Marks. She is survived by her son Rick (Kathleen) Peets, and daughter Sandee (Charlie) York, grandchildren Jaclynn and Danielle Peets, Taylor Grebliunas, and Corey (Livia) York, sisters Mary Anne (Al) Leach, Florence Huff, and brother Elton Mosher, many nieces, nephews, Godsons, Goddaughters, and special friends. 

Calling hours will be held at Young Funeral Home at 4025 Main Street, Williamson on Thursday, from 5-7 pm. The funeral service will be at 11am on Friday, at Young Funeral Home, followed by an Interment service at Webster Union Cemetery.  A celebration of life will be at The Lodge at Casey Park (6551 Knickerbocker Road, Ontario) immediately following the graveside service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 Country House Road, Lyons, NY 14489, an organization Joann felt strongly about.
