In Loving Memory of Janet Ruth Fernaays

Sodus:  Janet, age 82, passed away peacefully on December 19th surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 18, 1942 in Sodus, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she touched.

Janet had a zest for life that was best expressed through her love of music and dancing.  Her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, whom she supported wholeheartedly in all their endeavors. She was their biggest cheerleader, their unwavering source of encouragement.

Janet is survived by her husband Donald Fernaays (56 years), children Amy Malchoff, Susan (Michael) McGall, Steven (Monica) Fernaays, grandchildren Kayla (Jordan) Rissew, Matthew Malchoff, Nora (Daniel Clark) McGall, Joshua McGall, Ryan, Gavin, and Kendall Fernaays, sister Esther (Roger) Hylkema, and many other family members and friends who will carry her memory forward.

She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Lillian (Steitler) Barclay, and brothers, Douglas and Rodney Barclay.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Though she is no longer with us, Janet’s love, laughter, and music will echo in our hearts forever.
