Michael passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 too young at 60 years old.

He was born to Marla (Harris) McGilligan and James McGilligan in North Tarrytown New York. After graduating from Virginia Tech, he went on to a very successful career starting with 22 years at Amica Insurance and retiring from his own State Farm Agency in 2020. He recently purchased a new house to be closer to his mother and family. 

Michael was married for 32 years to his wife Karen and together they have 2 wonderful sons of whom he was extremely proud of. Some of his favorite memories were from the family’s vacations on Cape Cod. Mike loved animals and had many pets over his life including dogs, cats, fish, frogs, lizards, insects, turtles, snakes, and an alligator. 

Michael leaves behind Karen, Nicholas and Joshua McGilligan, mother Marla Beebe, brother Mark Beebe, sister Suzanne Walzer. Aunts Joan and Sally as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He also has many dear life-long friends from Virginia Tech, AMICA, Nationwide and the State Farm families. 

The family will have a private memorial service in the Spring.
