Harold R. Johansson
Williamson, NY/Lake Placid, FL: 86, peacefully passed away January 2, 2021.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Elaine.
Harold was born and raised in Rochester NY, the eldest child of Harold and Helen Johansson. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy (1954-1958) and then earned a degree from Alfred State Agricultural and Technical College. After briefly living in Buffalo, Harold and Elaine settled in Williamson in 1968, where they enjoyed country life together for more than 50 years. Harold worked as an HVAC estimator, retiring from Monroe Piping and Sheet Metal in 1992. He was a member of the Williamson American Legion and former member of Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club, where he served on the Grounds and Facilities Committee. In retirement, Harold enjoyed his golf league, wood carving, building a St. Lawrence skiff, winters in Florida and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his son: Michael (Kristin) Johansson; daughter: Kristen (Greg) Polhamus; grandchildren: Colin, Tate, and Reed Johansson, Daniel and Megan Polhamus; brother: Richard Johansson; sisters: Mary Ann Edwards and Karen (Robert) Gears and sisters in law: Jeanne Luke and Linda Hillman as well as many extended family members and friends.
Harold's funeral mass will be held on (Friday) April 30, 2021 at 10am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish - St. Mary's of the Lake Church: 5823 Walworth Rd, Ontario, NY 14519 followed by burial in Lake View Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Williamson American Legion, Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum or a charity of your choice.
