Mother Ethel Mae (Daniels) Wynn was born on June 10, 1939 in Edison, Georgia. She was the youngest daughter of Aaron Sr and Elizabeth (Zachary) Daniels. She moved to Orlando, Florida with her family at a young age. She built a life anchored in God, love, family and community.
Ethel met the love of her life, Nathaniel Wynn Sr., at the age of 14. Their friendship flourished into a beautiful love story. They were united in holy matrimony on January 14, 1956 at the ages of 16 and 18. They shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with 11 children, 41 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Ethel loved her children dearly, she made each one of her family members feel very special and loved. Ethel didn't just mother her own children, she mothered several other children in the community. She loved talking to and encouraging any and every one that would listen. She had a lot of love in her heart for everyone. She never met a stranger . She would strike up a conversation with eveyone around her.
Ethel moved to New York in 1961. She began attending Redeem Church of God in Christ in 1972. She was saved under the leadership of Superintendent William Jones. She was blessed to be surrounded by a great company of saved women of God. They taught her how to be a well-rounded woman of God. She served the church in many capacities. She sang in the choir, served on the usher board, president of the Sunshine Band, president and implemented the sewing circle, president of the local and district hospitality, and was assistant to the church Mother. In 1994 she became the church Mother for 25 years. In 2019 she relinquished her position as church Mother due to her illness, and then was given the position of Church Mother Emerita by her current Pastor, Superintendent Henry Prior.
In 1978 Ethel started working for Lake Ontario Child Development Center as a bus driver. She loved those children, there were times when she took children home with her. The parents and children loved her so much that they continued staying in contact with her even after those children became adults.
Ethel was big on making sure her children were educated. She didn't finish high school because she started her family at a young age. She wanted to be a good example for her children so she went to night school to receive her GED. She was so proud of that accomplishment.
Ethel lived life with joy, humor, and loving people. Her greatest joy came from being a devoted wife, a proud mother and doting grandmother. She loved shrimp and sweets. She would often say, she was baking pies and cakes for the grandchildren, but would find herself eating as much as the grandchildren. She would joke, "she had to taste them".
