Donald Jacob DeMarree
1925 - 2025
Donald Jacob DeMarree, of Williamson, NY, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Rochester at the age of 100. Born in 1925 in Sodus, he was the only child of Emily and Jacob DeMarree.
Donald was predeceased by his wife, Margaret and son, William.
Donald spent his entire life in Williamson - a place he loved deeply and never wanted to leave. He grew up on the family muck farm, where hard work and a love of the land became part of who he was. He went to work for Royal Wilson after graduating from high school. He eventually moved up to managing the farm and after Royal Wilson's death purchased the farm in the early 1960's. He retired in the late 1980's passing management and the farm on to his son Tom. Even after retiring, Donald could often be found driving around the orchards, checking in, sharing stories, and offering a bit of advice (whether asked for or not).
Beyond the farm, Donald gave back to his community through years of service on the volunteer ambulance crew. He was known for his easy laugh, quick wit, and a circle of friends who stuck together through thick and thin. He served on the Western New York Farm Credit board for many years.
He was very proud of the changes that his son, (Tom), daughter-in-law (Alison) and granddaughter (Kristen) made to the farm and would tour the farm regularly.
He is survived by his son, Thomas DeMarree, and daughter-in-law, Alison; his three grandchildren - Nicole (William) Snow, Kristen, and Trena (Andrew) Christensen, and his great-grandson, Nolan Snow. Donald's family and friends will miss his humor, his steady presence, and his deep pride in the life he built.
A service celebrating Donald's life will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 1:00 PM at the Pultneyville Reformed Church, 7784 Hamilton St., Williamson, NY. Private burial was held in Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pultneyville Reformed Church, 7784 Hamilton St., Williamson, NY 14589
