Georgia:  Began her journey home, (Thursday) November 28, 2019 at age 68.

She was born on June 29, 1951 to the late Mr. Julian Arrington and Bessie Mae Leach.

Preceded in death by her father, Julian and brothers: Mr Wren Hicks, Mr. Charles Hicks, and Mr. Wayne Hicks.

Cathy confessed hope in Christ early in her life and became a member of several different churches in Florida, New York and Georgia.  At each stop, she opened up her heart to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior to dwell eternally.  Cathy attended Miami-Dade Community College in Miami, Florida where she received an associates degree.  She would later work for Corning Inc. in Corning, New York for many years before moving to Georgia and becoming a medical assistant and then finally retiring.  These experiences helped to shape her into the special person we all knew and loved dearly.  Like her mother, Cathy was mild-mannered, sometimes quiet; but, spoke often with kindness and truth.  She definitely enjoyed a good laugh and love to joke, especially in the presence of family.  She enjoyed reading the Bible and spending time with her friends and family.  In her younger years, Cathy enjoyed dancing and was a member of her high school's (Prattsburgh Central High School - NY) marching band as a majorette.

Survived by her three children: Joaquima (Trevin) Shaw-Joyner; Elton Shaw and Tiffany Shaw; grandchildren: Tekaria Brooks, Trevin Joyner, Jr., Anyssa Monet Shaw, Jaden Joyner and Adaisha Bodine; brothers: Ivory "Joe" (Obie) Hicks, Dwayne (Michelle) Hicks, Calvin (Sherry) Hicks and Darryl (Kim) Drew; sisters: Annie Davison and Felicia (Ramon) Drew-Algarin; a host of of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life, Saturday, December 7, 2019, 1:00 pm at Willie A. Watkins Douglasville Chapel, 8312 Dallas Highway, Douglasville, GA 30134. Viewing, Friday, December 5, 2019, 5-7 pm.  Private graveside service and interment will held in Prattsburg Rural Cemetery in Spring of 2020 under the care of Young Funeral Home, Williamson, NY  14589.
