Fern A. Collward
Williamson: Entered into rest on (Sunday) February 17, 2019 at age 95.
Predeceased by her husband, Selden; brothers: Harold and Vern Collier; sisters: Dorothy Klingenberger and Hilda Johnson.
After graduating from Williamson High School, she worked for Kodak and then enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII to support the war effort and to continue her education. She became an aviation engineer, PFC Petty Officer. After the Navy, she returned to work at Kodak, married and raised a family. Fern was always an avid gardener, homemaker and loved to read. She worked tirelessly on the Republican Committee, Cubscouts, and was a longtime member of the Williamson Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post #394. She was active in sports all her life, playing tennis, softball, and golf. Her softball team played all over the state winning many tournaments. Fern and Selden belonged to the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club where they played golf many times per week. In her last years, she worked diligently on her family genealogy to pass on to other family members.
She leaves behind her son: Barry and daughter: Roslyn (Jorge) Sanchez; nieces: Brenda (Mike) Gowan, Amy (Mike) Cahill, Laurie and Cindy Collward, Cathy (Bob) Henderson; nephews: Brian (Donna) Collier, Donald (Kate) and Scott (Lisa) Klingenberger and Steve Collward; many extended family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held on (Friday) February 22, 2019 from 11am-1pm followed by her funeral service at 1pm at Young Funeral Home, Williamson. Burial in Lake View Cemetery with military honors.
