Eleanor Elizabeth "Mimi" French

Williamson, NY:  Left us unexpectedly, peacefully in her sleep, January 6, 2017, age 58.

Ms. French was predeceased by grandparents, New York State Supreme Court Justice, Charles B. Brasser and Marian Getty Brasser.  

She is survived by her loving mother, Eleanor Brasser French, of Williamson, cousins Barbara (Ricardo) Dorado and family of Madrid, Spain; Stephen Paul (Bonnie) Puntch and family of Roswell, New Mexico, Paul Donald Puntch, Jr. of Houston, Texas, dear friend Maggie Harding Hollingsworth, along with coworkers and other devoted friends, by whom she will be sorely and forever missed.  

A 1976 graduate of Williamson H.S., Ms. French attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she graduated in 1980, with a B.A. in English Literature. She was a longtime case worker for the Wayne County Department of Social Services, where her competence, dedication and compassion earned the respect of clients and coworkers alike.  Her light touch, wry humor, encyclopedic knowledge of show tunes, and great voice won their love. According to colleague Adrienne Russo, “Mimi was the light of our life in the office.” Her volunteer work included teaching English as a second language throughout the 1990s and serving as a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church.   An insatiable reader, her curious mind cast a wide net, from birding and world religions, to gemology and just about anything.  She loved gardening and was excited to see the raspberry and peony cuttings she planted last year take root.   

A memorial service will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of Sodus, 31 West Main Street, Sodus, NY on Saturday, January 14, 11:00 am.  Private interment in Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Williamson Public Library, 6380 Lake Avenue, Williamson, NY 14589.
