WILLIAMSON — Barbara June Huff, 82, died peacefully Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Pines of Peace in Ontario due to complications of cancer.

Barbara was born Sunday, June 17, 1934, in Geneva, NY, the daughter of George Closson Huff and Mildred Mae (Valder) Huff. She graduated from Geneva High School and married Richard Martin Potter on Feb. 12, 1955. Following the birth of their first child, Susan, the family moved to California, where the twins, David and Dennis, and daughter Jennifer were born. They came back to New York, driving across country in an old car with those four very young children, and settled in Rochester. They stayed there until 1976, when they moved to Williamson.

Barbara held a variety of jobs through the years, including working as a teacher’s aide at BOCES in Williamson. Her greatest gift was how she always put everyone else’s needs first; she was a tireless caregiver, both with her children and the community. Following the death of her husband, Barbara traveled around the country with many senior bus trips, volunteered to visit shut-ins and take them to church and appointments, and most of all, spent as much time as she could with her greatest joy — her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her four children: Susan Potter-Tuma (Jeff Tuma) of Marion; David Potter of Arizona; Dennis (Lorraine) Potter of Delaware; and Jennifer (Bradley) Taylor of Geneva; six grandchildren: Jason (Carrie) Potter, Benjamin Tuma, Emily (Michael) Bond, Audrey (Steve) Taylor, Katharine (James Meisterich) Potter and Thomas Potter; six great-grandchildren: Laura Potter, Zoey Tuma, Juliette Bond, Lawrence Bond, Montgomery Bond and Ethan Taylor; nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband, Richard Potter; brother, William Huff; sisters Marjorie Bloss, Helen Lauritano and Judy Saka.

There are no calling hours. Services and burial are private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s name to Pines of Peace, 2378 Ridge Road, Ontario 14519, would be appreciated.
